SNL Rips Religious Refusals Laws

This past weekend, Saturday Night Live parodied the anti-LGBT legislation we cover daily on PTN. In a satirical trailer starring Vanessa Bayer, SNL also pokes fun at the 'Christian persecution' film genre, specifically the widely-panned God Is Not Dead 2

Bayer plays a baker who refuses to make a cake for a gay couple, despite a plea from her coworker that "Gays are the most powerful force in America."

The short hits peak hilarity in the state governor's office, where a group of advisors outline many of the serious budgetary and public health issues faced by states that have passed these laws. Bayer's character informs the governor that she just wants to "deny basic goods and services to gay people." His response? "This is the priority now."
